The first Winter Olympic Games were held eighty years before in 1924 at Chamonix, France. While several sporting events performed at the games have changed over the years, some like bobsleighing, figure skating and speed skating still remained a part of the 2002 version.
These games were held shortly after the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. making security much higher for the event than ever seen before.
