The 2007-W $10 Jefferson’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Uncirculated Coin marks the third issue in a series created to honor the spouses of the former Presidents of the United States.

However, as Thomas Jefferson’s wife passed away nineteen years before he assumed the office of President, the First Spouse Coin linked to his administration features an image of Liberty. The authorizing legislation for the series dictates that Liberty be used in place of a spouse if there were no spouses during the President’s term in office.
Each First Spouse Gold Coin is struck from 1/2 ounce of 24-karat gold to either proof or uncirculated condition.

First Spouse Gold Coins are typically issued at a rate of four per year in association with the circulating Presidential $1 Coins also struck by the US Mint.
Issue Information
Each First Spouse Gold Coin is struck from 1/2 ounce of 24-karat gold (.9999 fine).
Release Date
The US Mint released the Jefferson’s Liberty coins on August 30, 2007. (Of note – the entire mintage sold out on release date.)
Issue Price
Initial price on the Jefferson’s Liberty Uncirculated Coin was $410.95.
U.S. Mint Production Facility
A "W" mintmark on the design indicates that each coin was struck at the US Mint’s facility in West Point.
Designer & Sculptor
An image of Liberty first seen on the Draped Bust Half Cent, which appeared from 1800-1808, is found on the obverse (heads side) of the coin. It was originally designed by Robert Scot and re-sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.
Thomas Jefferson’s Monument is featured on the reverse (tails side) of the coin. The image was designed and sculpted by Charles Vickers.
