This series of coins are considered the numismatic versions of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™, which themselves are struck with similar designs to those found on the Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Despite having relatively the same designs, however, both series of silver coins are much larger than their companion quarter dollars. That is because each is struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver with the 2010-dated strikes having a diameter of three inches.
These Yellowstone strikes represent the national park of Wyoming which has the distinction of being the first national park, not only in the United States, but also the world.
