These strikes are based on the designs used on the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, however each of these coins are struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver and feature a diameter of three inches just like the Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™.

Both five ounce series feature similar specifications with the main differences being their methods of distribution and their intended market. These uncirculated coins are struck for collectors and sold directly to the public by the Mint whereas the bullion coins are meant for investors and sold through the Mint’s network of authorized purchasers.

The reverse of the coin honors Gettysburg National Military Park with a design showcasing the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry Monument found there. It was designed by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) Master Designer Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Phebe Hemphill.
