Four sizes of Uncirculated Gold Eagles were typically struck by the Mint – one ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce and 1/10 ounce. However, near the end of 2008 the Mint announced that the fractional sizes would no longer be produced.
To further pollute the series, the Mint was also forced to cancel production of the one ounce Gold Eagle Uncirculated Coins in 2009 (along with the Proof Gold Eagle) due to unprecedented demand for the bullion version of the coin. A return of the one ounce strikes was expected for 2010 making the appearance of them in 2011 highly likely.

Designer & Sculptor
The obverse (heads side) of the Gold Eagles was based on the 1907 Double Eagle designed by Augustus St. Gaudens. It shows a version of Liberty walking. The design is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful ever produced.
The reverse (tails side) shows a flying eagle over a nest containing the eagle’s family. It was designed by Miley Busiek.
