This design is actually also featured on two other series of coins – the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program and the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program. Both of those series were authorized by Congress as part of the America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008. This related series of five ounce silver uncirculated coins was created as the numismatic versions of the bullion coins under the authority given the Secretary of the Treasury to strike and release items of numismatic interest.

Like the bullion coins, these silver uncirculated coins are struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver with a diameter of three inches. The three inch diameter was originally required by Congress for the bullion coins, but that requirement has since been amended.
