The 2012-W $10 Caroline Harrison First Spouse Gold Proof Coin is the third 2012-dated proof release of the First Spouse Gold Coin Program from the United States Mint. Shown on the obverse of the coin is a portrait of Caroline Harrison, wife of the 23rd President of the United States, Benjamin Harrison.

The reverse of the coin contains a scene emblematic of the life of Caroline. Each is struck from one-half ounce of .9999 fine gold.

Coins of this series are issued in association with coins of the US Mint’s Presidential $1 Coin Program honoring the nations former Presidents. The related series features four new coins per year since its debut in 2010 with strikes appearing in the order in which the individuals served. This spouse series is released in a similar fashion with the spouse coins typically appearing shortly after the associated Presidential $1 coin.

First Spouse Gold Coins made their debut in 2007. Coins issued in the series in previous years include:

Like the associated Presidential $1 Coins, the spouse coins generally feature four new coins per year. An exception occurred in 2009, however, when the Letitia and Julia Tyler Coins were released in association with the John Tyler Presidency.
