Great Basin National Park in Nevada was only established in 1986, however, a portion now included within the park was a part of the National Park System since 1922. That portion was known as the Lehman Caves National Monument. Along with the cave, the national park also offers visitors several other recreational opportunities like camping, hiking, and even star-gazing (owing to its distance from a large population base, the amount of light pollution is minimal here).

Each bag will contain 100 strikes of circulation quality quarters. The buyer will have the choice of whether those quarters from the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia or the US Mint’s facility in Denver.

2013 America the Beautiful Quarters

A total of five America the Beautiful Quarters are scheduled to be issued in 2013:

  • 2013 White Mountain America the Beautiful Quarter representing New Hampshire
  • 2013 Perry’s Victory America the Beautiful Quarter representing Ohio
  • 2013 Great Basin America the Beautiful Quarter representing Nevada
  • 2013 Fort McHenry America the Beautiful Quarter representing Maryland
  • 2013 Mount Rushmore America the Beautiful Quarter representing South Dakota

The US Mint typically issues the America the Beautiful Quarters in several of its products aside from the bags of the strikes. Some of the other options include rolls of the quarters as well as proof sets and US Mint uncirculated sets.

The portrait found on the obverse (heads side) of each America the Beautiful Coin was first originally used on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar. That design has been used in one form or another on the quarter ever since. It was the work of John Flanagan and features the first President of the United States, George Washington.

The reverse (tails side) of the coin will showcase a portion of the Great Basin National Park.
