Located in Colorado, the Sand Dunes area was first established as a national monument in 1932. It was elevated to a national park and preserve in 2004. That designation helps to protect the Dunes which are considered extremely fragile despite their impressive stature. Considered the tallest sand dunes in North America, they are continually being eroded away, only to be rebuilt almost immediately by nature itself.

Considered companions to the circulating America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, each silver bullion coin will feature obverse and reverse images identical to those found on the quarters. The Mint will produce each bullion coin from five ounces of .999 fine silver.

2014 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins

  • 2014 Arches National Park 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing Utah
  • 2014 Great Sand Dunes National Park 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing Colorado
  • 2014 Everglades National Park 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing Florida

Representing the twenty-first through twenty-fifth strikes of the program, a total of fifty-six will have been created before the program ends in 2021.

Designer & Sculptor

George Washington (first President of the United States) has been on the quarter dollar since 1932. As the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins are to feature identical imagery as to what is found on the circulating quarter dollars, Washington will be found on the obverse (heads side) of the silver coins as well. The portrait was the original work of John Flanagan.

The reverse (tails side) of the Great Sand Dunes America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin will showcase a portion of the national park.
