The 2015 Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter Rolls will mark the US Mint’s third roll release of 2015 to contain strikes of the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program.

Established on June 30, 1936, the Blue Ridge Parkway is found in the states of North Carolina and Virginia. For the sake of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, it is representing North Carolina. The Parkway took 52 years to complete owing to its location in the Blue Ridge Mountains and other concerns. The last stretch was completed around Grandfather Mountain in 1987. Today, the Parkway is touted as the most visited unit of the National Park Service.

Included in the set will be one roll containing 40 circulation quality quarters from the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia and one roll containing 40 circulation quality quarters from the US Mint’s facility in Denver. Each roll is wrapped in special Mint wrapping indicating its contents.

2015 America the Beautiful Quarters

The US Mint issues five America the Beautiful Quarters annually. Those scheduled for 2015 are:

  • 2015 Homestead National Monument of America Quarter representing Nebraska
  • 2015 Kisatchie National Forest Quarter representing Louisiana
  • 2015 Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter representing North Carolina
  • 2015 Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Quarter representing Delaware
  • 2015 Saratoga National Historical Park Quarter representing New York

The Blue Ridge Parkway Quarters mark the twenty-eighth for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

Issue Information

An initial placed on the special Mint wrapping of each roll indicates which minting facility produced the strikes within – P for Philadelphia or D for Denver.

Honored State or Territory

For the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, Blue Ridge Parkway is representing the state of North Carolina, the twelfth state to be admitted to the Union. This occurred on November 21, 1789.

U.S. Mint Production Facility

One roll in the set will contain strikes from the US Mint’s facility in Denver and one roll will contain strikes from the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia.

Designer & Sculptor / Engraver

First found on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar, a portrait of George Washington is featured on the obverse (heads side) of all of the America the Beautiful coins. The image of the first President of the United States was designed by John Flanagan.

A portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway will be featured on the reverse (tails side) of the quarter.
