2015 Kisatchie National Forest 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin

The second of five strikes to be released by the US Mint in 2015 as part of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin® Program will be the 2015 Kisatchie National Forest 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin.

Kisatchie is located in northern Louisiana and consists of over 600,000 acres. The area is a favorite of many who utilize the forest area for many recreational activities including boating, fishing, hiking, etc.

The Kisatchie Silver Bullion Coin will feature identical obverse and reverse images to those found on the Kisatchie Quarter Dollar that will be struck as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. However, each bullion coin will be much larger than a quarter dollar and each will be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver.

2015 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins

A total of five strikes are released annually as part of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Program. The five slated to be issued in 2015 are:

  • 2015 Homestead National Monument of America 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing Nebraska
  • 2015 Kisatchie National Forest 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing Louisiana
  • 2015 Blue Ridge Parkway 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing North Carolina
  • 2015 Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing Delaware
  • 2015 Saratoga National Historical Park 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin representing New York

The coins shown above are the twenty-sixth through thirtieth strikes of the program which will include a total of fifty-six before it is completed in 2021.

Issue Information

The US Mint will issue these silver bullion coins on a schedule similar to the circulating America the Beautiful Quarters®.

Release Date

The US Mint has not yet announced a release date for the Kisatchie Silver Bullion Coin.

Issue Price

The Mint’s network of authorized purchasers will sell these bullion coins to the public for a small premium above the current spot price of the silver contained within them.

U.S. Mint Production Facility

Typically, bullion coins are struck without a mintmark. However, the only facility which received the special equipment required for striking the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins was the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia.

Designer & Sculptor

Also featured on the circulating quarter dollars, and image of George Washington, the first President of the United States, will be seen on the obverse (heads side) of the silver bullion coins. The portrait was originally designed by John Flanagan for the 1932 quarter.

On the reverse (tails side) of the Kisatchie Coins, an image showcasing a portion of the forest will be shown.
