The 2015 Kisatchie National Forest Quarter Rolls will be the second release of rolls containing strikes of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program to appear in 2015.

Designated in 1930, Kisatchie National Forest is located in the state of Louisiana. It consists of approximately 604,000 acres which offers visitors over 40 developed recreation areas and over 100 miles of developed trails within the forest’s boundaries. Activities such as camping, hiking, fishing and boating are all common at Kisatchie.

The Kisatchie Rolls represent the twenty-seventh strikes of the America the Beautiful Program which debuted in 2010 and features five new quarter releases annually as part of it. A total of fifty-six new coins will have been issued when the program is completed in 2021.

2015 America the Beautiful Quarters

Five America the Beautiful Quarters will be issued by the US Mint in 2015:

  • 2015 Homestead National Monument of America Quarter representing Nebraska
  • 2015 Kisatchie National Forest Quarter representing Louisiana
  • 2015 Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter representing North Carolina
  • 2015 Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Quarter representing Delaware
  • 2015 Saratoga National Historical Park Quarter representing New York

Each roll will be wrapped in special Mint wrapping indicating the contents found within. This includes the total face value of the strikes ($10), the specific quarter included (Kisatchie National Forest Quarters) and an initial indicating which Mint facility struck the coins within (P for Philadelphia or D for Denver).

Issue Information

Each two-roll set will include one roll of circulation quality strikes from the US Mint’s facility in Denver and one roll from the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia.

Kisatchie National Forest is located in the 18th state admitted to the Union, Louisiana. It was admitted on April 30, 1812.

U.S. Mint Production Facility

One roll in the set will contain strikes from the US Mint’s facility in Denver and one roll will contain strikes from the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia.

Designer & Sculptor / Engraver

John Flanagan designed the original portrait that is featured on the obverse (heads side) of all of the America the Beautiful Coins. It features a portrait of George Washington, the first President on the United States, and was first seen on the circulating 1932 quarter dollar.

A portion of Kisatchie National Forest will be featured on the reverse (tails side) of the quarter.
