Strikes included in the bag represent Shawnee National Forest, located in Illinois. Shawnee was established in 1933 and the process of purchasing exhausted farmland for the forest by the federal government began. As most of the land was no longer suitable for productive farming, the government started the process of planting pine trees to prevent soil erosion. Today the forest consists of 265,616 acres.

When buyers place an order for a bag of the Shawnee Quarters, they will have the option of purchasing coins that were struck at the US Mint’s facility in Denver or coins that were struck at the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia. Both of those locations are responsible for striking the circulating coinage of the United States.
