Theodore Roosevelt National Park was only established on November 10, 1978, but was created initially as Roosevelt Recreation Demonstration Area in 1935. It preserves a portion of the state of North Dakota where future President of the United States Theodore Roosevelt once ran a ranching operation. Today the park encompasses 70,448 acres and offers visitors a wide variety of recreational activities.

The US Mint will place 100 circulation quality strikes in each bag. Buyer’s will have the choice of coins produced at the US Mint’s facility in Denver or the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia.

2016 America the Beautiful Quarters

A total of five America the Beautiful Quarters Program coins will be released by the US Mint in 2016:

  • 2016 Shawnee America the Beautiful Quarter representing Illinois
  • 2016 Cumberland Gap America the Beautiful Quarter representing Kentucky
  • 2016 Harpers Ferry America the Beautiful Quarter representing West Virginia
  • 2016 Theodore Roosevelt America the Beautiful Quarter representing North Dakota
  • 2016 Fort Moultrie (Fort Sumter) America the Beautiful Quarter representing South Carolina

The America the Beautiful Quarters Program will be in its thirty-fourth release with the issue of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park Quarter.

Issue Information

Each bag is imprinted with the generic contents label of "U.S. MINT QUARTERS $25.00". A label sewn onto the bag shows the specific contents of Theodore Roosevelt National Park Quarters.

Honored State or Territory

North Dakota is represented by these Theodore Roosevelt Quarters. The state was the 39th admitted to the Union when it entered on November 2, 1889.

Release Date

The US Mint has not announced a release date for the Theodore Roosevelt Quarter products.

Issue Price

An issue price for these quarter products has not been announced by the US Mint.

U.S. Mint Production Facility

Buyers will have the choice of which minting facility they would like their 100 strikes to be from – Philadelphia or Denver.

Designer & Sculptor / Engraver

George Washington, the first President of the United States, is featured on the obverse (heads side) of all of the America the Beautiful coins. The portrait was originally designed by John Flanagan for the 1932 circulating quarter dollar.

The reverse (tails side) of the Theodore Roosevelt Quarter will showcase a portion of the national park.
