Theodore Roosevelt National Park was initially established as a Recreation Demonstration Area in 1935. After being re-designated several times, it was finally given the national park status on November 10, 1978. The park itself preserves an area of land once belonging to future President of the United States Theodore Roosevelt who operated a ranch there.

Each roll is wrapped by the US Mint in special Mint wrapping. The wrap indicates the face value of the contents ($10), the specific strikes contained within (Theodore Roosevelt National Park Quarters) and an initial indicating which minting facility produced them (P for Philadelphia or D for Denver).
