George Rogers Clark is a name not known to many, but if not for the actions of him and his men, the American Revolutionary War might have gone completely different. Clark’s company was sent by the colony of Virginia to protect the colony’s interest in the Old Northwest. His successful defeat over British forces during several engagements insured the frontier area would not remain under the control of England.

The America the Beautiful Quarters Program will be in its fortieth issue when the George Rogers Clark Quarter Dollars are released. A total of fifty-six will have been created by the time the program ends in 2021.

2017 America the Beautiful Quarters

The five America the Beautiful Quarters scheduled to be released in 2017 are:

  • 2017 Effigy Mounds America the Beautiful Quarter representing Iowa
  • 2017 Frederick Douglass America the Beautiful Quarter representing the District of Columbia
  • 2017 Ozark America the Beautiful Quarter representing Missouri
  • 2017 Ellis Island America the Beautiful Quarter representing New Jersey
  • 2017 George Rogers Clark America the Beautiful Quarter representing Indiana

The program will eventually honor each state, the District of Columbia and the five territories of the United States with a different quarter dollar before it is completed.
