Coins in the bag contain reverse designs honoring Ozark National Scenic Riverways, which is located in the state of Missouri. Ozark was established by an Act of Congress in 1964, but not formally dedicated until 1971. The Riverways encompasses an area of 80,000 acres with the Current River that flows through it touted as one of the best float streams in the nation.

Each Ozark Quarter Dollar represents the thirty-eighth strike of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program which debuted in 2010. The original program is due to be completed in 2021 after fifty-six new coins have been released as part of it.

2017 America the Beautiful Quarters

Five America the Beautiful Quarters Program coins are issued by the US Mint annually. Those scheduled for 2017 are:

  • 2017 Effigy Mounds America the Beautiful Quarter representing Iowa
  • 2017 Frederick Douglass America the Beautiful Quarter representing the District of Columbia
  • 2017 Ozark America the Beautiful Quarter representing Missouri
  • 2017 Ellis Island America the Beautiful Quarter representing New Jersey
  • 2017 George Rogers Clark America the Beautiful Quarter representing Indiana

Fifty-six new strikes will have been created as part of the program with one representing each state, the District of Columbia and each of the five territories of the United States.

Issue Information

Each bag will contain 100 circulation quality strikes from either the US Mint’s facility in Denver or the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia – buyers choice.

Honored State or Territory

Ozark National Scenic Riverways is found in the 24th state admitted to the Union, Missouri. It officially entered on August 10, 1821.

Release Date

The US Mint has not announced a release date for any of the Ozark Quarter products.

Issue Price

The US Mint has not announced an issue price for these bags of Ozark Quarters.

Buyers will have the choice of a bag containing strikes from either the US Mint’s facility in Denver or the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia.

Designer & Sculptor / Engraver

George Washington, the first President of the United States, is featured on the obverse (heads side) of all of the America the Beautiful coins. That same portrait was first found on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar and was designed by John Flanagan.

The reverse (tails side) of the quarter will showcase a portion of the scenic riverways.
