Located in Wisconsin, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore preserves and protects 12 miles of mainland along with 21 islands. Visitors to the area who come for the scenery, camping, boating, etc. are treated to old growth forests, sandstone sea caves and several historic lighthouses.

Each silver bullion coin will feature obverse and reverse imagery identical to what will be found on the sister America the Beautiful Quarters®, also issued by the US Mint. However, the silver bullion coins will be much larger as they will be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches.
