2018 Cumberland Island America the Beautiful Quarter Bags

The fourth of five bag releases by the US Mint in 2018 to contain strikes of the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program will be the 2018 Cumberland Island America the Beautiful Quarter Bags.

Each coin in the bag was struck to represent Cumberland Island National Seashore which is located in the state of Georgia. Established on October 23, 1972, the national seashore consists of approximately 36,415 acres, a large portion of which is on Georgia’s largest Golden Isle – Cumberland Island. Aside from the many natural features found here such as beaches, dunes, marshes and lakes, the area also boasts several historic properties.

Strikes in each bag are of circulation quality. The Mint will place 100 of the quarters in each bag, either from the US Mint’s facility in Denver or the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia. Buyer’s will have the choice of which facility they would like their strikes to be from.

2018 America the Beautiful Quarters

Five America the Beautiful Quarters are issued by the US Mint annually. Those scheduled for 2018 include:

  • 2018 Pictured Rocks America the Beautiful Quarter representing Michigan
  • 2018 Apostle Islands America the Beautiful Quarter representing Wisconsin
  • 2018 Voyageurs America the Beautiful Quarter representing Minnesota
  • 2018 Cumberland Island America the Beautiful Quarter representing Georgia
  • 2018 Block Island America the Beautiful Quarter representing Rhode Island

The America the Beautiful Quarters Program will be in its forty-forth release when the Cumberland Island Quarter is issued.

Issue Information

Each bag in imprinted with "U.S. MINT QUARTERS $25.00". A label sewn onto the bag shows the specific contents of Cumberland Island Quarters as well as which minting facility they were struck at.

Honored State or Territory

Cumberland Island is located on the coast of Georgia. Georgia was the 4th state to join the Union and was admitted on January 2, 1788.

Release Date

The US Mint has not announced a release date for the Cumberland Island Quarter products.

Issue Price

The US Mint has not announced an issue price for bags of the Cumberland Island Quarters.

U.S. Mint Production Facility

Buyers will have the choice of a bag containing strikes from either the US Mint’s facility in Denver or the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia.

Designer & Sculptor / Engraver

An image of George Washington, the first President of the United States, is featured on the obverse (heads side) of the America the Beautiful coins. It was designed by John Flanagan for the 1932 circulating quarter.

The reverse (tails side) of the coin will showcase a portion of Cumberland Island National Seashore.
