Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is located in the state of Michigan along the shores of Lake Superior. The lakeshore was established in 1966 to protect 42 miles of the shoreline. It takes its name from a 15-mile section of the shoreline that consists of colorful sandstone cliffs that extend as high as 200 feet above the lake level.

The Mint wraps each roll in special Mint wrapping that indicates its contents of Pictured Rocks Quarters, the face value of the roll ($10) and an initial indicating which minting facility produced them (P for Philadelphia or D for Denver).
