Strikes in the bag represent Lowell National Historical Park which is found in the state of Massachusetts. Lowell was founded as a textile manufacturing center in the early 1800′s and was considered to be state-of-the-art at the time of its opening. It operated for decades before overseas competition forced the industry to shutter Lowell. This led to a restoration effort of which the National Park was included when it established the Lowell Historical Park on June 5, 1978.

These Lowell Quarters represent the forty-sixth strike of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program which debuted in 2010.
