Established on February 24, 1992, Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve consists of 945.77 acres on the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Croix. Aside from protecting several endangered or threatened species within the preserve, the park also claims the only location to have been visited by members of the Columbus Expedition that is now under the control of the United States.

The US Mint will place 100 circulation quality Salt River Bay Quarters inside before sewing the closing stitches on each bag.

2020 America the Beautiful Quarters

Five America the Beautiful Quarter Dollars are scheduled to be released by the US Mint in 2020:

  • 2020 National Park of American Samoa America the Beautiful Quarter representing American Samoa
  • 2020 Weir Farm America the Beautiful Quarter representing Connecticut
  • 2020 Salt River Bay America the Beautiful Quarter representing the U.S. Virgin Islands
  • 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller America the Beautiful Quarter representing Vermont
  • 2020 Tallgrass Prairie America the Beautiful Quarter representing Kansas

The program will be in its fifty-third release with the debut of the Salt River Bay Quarter.

U.S. Mint Production Facility

Buyers will have the choice of a bag containing 100 circulation quality quarters from the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia or a bag containing 100 circulation quality quarters from the US Mint’s facility in Denver.

Designer & Sculptor / Engraver

George Washington, the first President of the United States, will be featured on the obverse (heads side) of all the America the Beautiful coins. The portrait was designed by John Flanagan and first used on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar.

The reverse (tails side) of the quarter will showcase a portion of the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve.
