Coins in the bag represent the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site of Alabama with a reverse design emblematic of that location. The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African American airmen who encountered untold hardships to become one of the most recognized fighter groups during World War II. The site was established on November 6, 1998.

A special label sewn into each bag indicates the specific contents of Tuskegee Airmen Quarters to be found within and the minting facility responsible for striking them.
